Interesting projects

Hi, kids!

Here are two photos of two projects that Margarida and Guilherme (5. C) did in EVT (Visual and Technological Education). I found them (= achei-os) so nice that I took the photos yesterday after class.

The first is about the Phases of the Moon (= fases da lua). It was created with an old umbrella frame and balloons. Fantastic, isn't it? And very creative!

The second project is about Pollution. It was done with plastic bottle caps (= tampas de plástico) and a plastic medicine jar (= frasco de remédios). It says:

"Do not pollute Planet Earth! Throw trash in the trash can!" A great message that we should all follow (= todos devemos seguir)!!!

Thank you, Margarida and Guilherme, for your great work and for showing it to me with such enthusiasm!

More exercises!

Hi, kids!

I have just finished creating three new interactive Geography exercises with information from the table that you completed about your teacher-friends.I hope you learn in a fun way!

Geography 1

Geography 2

Geography 3

Don't forget to say your score (= resultado) in the Comments area and please identify (= identifica) the exercise: Geo1, Geo2 or Geo3.

And here's another group of fun exercises not created by me! They are demos.

Alphabet puzzle (click the last button on the left and then drag the pieces to the right place. I love it!)

Alphabet grid (= grelha)

Number grid

Enjoy!

A great online drawing tool!

Hi, kids!

I was playing with Gliffy just now. Gliffy is a great online drawing tool. Look what I did about our blog and CALL lessons! Isn't it cool? I think so....

A song about food

Francisco promised another song for today and he kept his promise. It's very short and it's about food.

He sings it alone and then the class sings with him. Here are the lyrics:

To the health are good

Not only fish, meat and fruit

But also any other food.

 Enjoy!

And here's the logo created by André N.

Going to the Zoo

Hi, kids!

Some of you spent (= passaram) the day at the Lisbon Zoo with school today and some of you are going tomorrow. Lucky you!!!

Please remember to take some photos of your favorite animals and send them to me by email. I will put them in our blog. Let's see who are the good photographers!    And don't forget to write something here about your day at the Zoo.

See you in class on Friday. Enjoy your time tomorrow!

Hugs from your English teacher

Friday, 19th May

This morning in class I asked 5. D and then 5. E to write about their visit to the Zoo last Wednesday. Since they haven't learned the Simple Past, I asked them to write in the S. Present. Three students in each class went to the board to write what they and their colleagues suggested. They were very excited and all wanted to speak at the same time, because they had so many things to say. It was a great time to learn new vocabulary and to review things already learned. Enjoy!

A visit to the Zoo (5. D)

We go to the Zoo on Wednesday the seventeenth of May (17th May). We leave at half past nine and come back at five o'clock. There are two buses, about eighty students and six teachers.

We see peacocks with blue, green and yellow feathers, pink and white flamingos, and many others.

We also see elephants, lions, rhinos, camels and hippos. Next we see the reptilarium, the monkeys and gorillas, the dolphin show, and the little farm with goats, cows, chickens, donkeys, ponies and ducks.

We have lunch there: pizza, potato chips, cheeseburger, sandwiches and juice.

We like very much. It is fun and useful for Science and Area de Projecto (Project Area).

Dafne, here's a picture of the giraffes in their environment taken by Gonçalo (5. D) just for you! I'm also including a close-up of these very elegant giraffes. Isn't he a great photographer?

Daf, here's another beautiful picture of a giraffe taken by André N. (5. D). Guess what? I also love giraffes!

Gonçalo, see how much Daf loved your very nice attitude (= vê quanto Daf adorou a tua atitude tão simpática) with these photos you took for her. Here's a message she wrote in her blog about it: A gift from Portugal! What a nice title!

I just saw it (15Jun06) when preparing a presentation that I will give tomorrow afternoon for her colleagues at the university about our blogs.

Going to the Zoo (5. E)

We go to the Zoo on Wednesday the seventeenth of May (17 May 2006).

We leave the school at half past nine and come back at five o'clock. There are two buses, about one hundred students and eight teachers.

When we arrive, we see many birds: parrots, eagles, peacocks with their green, yellow, blue and black feathers, and flamingos.

We also see elephants, giraffes, lions, bears, hippos, monkeys, white tigers, rhinos  and sea lions.

Next we see the dolphins and the little farm.

Writing about myself

Hi, kids!

Yesterday morning in class Pedro (5 D) showed me a text that he wrote about himself (= que ele escreveu sobre si próprio) with the help of a dictionary. I told him that I'd create (= eu disse-lhe que criaria) a place for personal texts in our blog. Pedro, this is the place (= sítio) for your text!

This is the place for all of you to write about yourselves (= todos escreverem sobre vocês). Be careful with the spelling (= ortografia)! When in doubt (= quando tiverem dúvidas), go to your textbook or a dictionary. That is a very good way to learn.

I hope to read many great texts!

Hugs from you teacher

See you in class tomorrow!

Hugs from your English teacher
