Summer messages

    Hi, kids!

School is over and the holidays are here till mid-September. At the beach, in the countryside (= no campo), camping, travelling abroad (= to another country), staying at home, playing with friends or with the computer, have a wonderful time! Rest and relax.

But don't forget your English teacher!!! I will be here and I will visit our blogs daily to see if there are new messages from my dear friends. Please write about your holidays or just to say "Hello"!

By the way (= a propósito), do you know what "HELLO" means? Take a look!

In a few days I'm going to leave a last message in the "CALL Lessons" blog with links (= ligações) to sites that we worked with in the past two years. I hope they will be useful and enjoyable. And don't forget to read some very nice messages from our teacher-friends about your "brilliant" work with the interviews in CALL Lesson 11.

It was a great pleasure to be your English teacher in 5th and 6th grades. And your friend, always. We had some wonderful times and great laughs (= grandes risotas) together. And we had many new experiences.

Above all, "you" learned quite a lot in my classes and, two years later, showed what you can do, a fabulous "grand finale": interviewing three "mystery guests" online in a first-time ever voice chat. And "I" learned with you! "Thank you" for these great two years!

Hugs and kisses from your "crazy and radical" teacher

Dear Márcia,
I hope you have a wonderful time in the Algarve.
When you come back, please tell me all about your days in the "sun, sea and sand".
I'm sure you will have a chance to be with your friends when you come back. You all live in the same area, don't you?

Hi, Rodrigo!
Long time no see...
A belated (= atrasados) "Happy Birthday" to your father. Was it very hot in Beja?
I'm sorry to hear about the FAP site. Is it this the Web address you're talking about?
http://www.emfa.pt/
If you feel lost, why don't you send them a message? Click on "Contacte-nos" and ask them for help, even if it's just about photos of planes... whatever. Tell them what you need and ask where you can find it. I'm sure they'll reply.
I love hearing from you. And I love to know that you really liked these two years. Me too. :-))
Happy holidays!!!
Hugs from your "crazy and radical" teacher

Dear Pedro,
What 'championship' (= torneio) was it that you lost?
I visited your site, but I don't understand what it is about. What are cs or Cs?
I didn't like two things: the violence in the video (it's machine guns and shooting all the time!) and some "nasty" language and expressions (they are aggressive to my eyes and ears).
I'm a peaceful person (= pessoa pacífica) who likes "nice and normal" language.
Are you still in the Algarve?
Bye! Keep on writing! I like your messages.
Hugs

Hi, Leonor!
I'm fine and feeling more rested (= descansada). But I'm still "crazy"!!! ;-)
Yesterday I bought a crazy Swatch. Take a look!

and

It's cute (= giro), isn't it?
The little girl is very tall, she has long legs and arms, and long braids (= tranças). And she has a very happy face.
I love it, because it's crazy like me!!!! :-))
How do you spend your days? Do you go to the beach? Do you meet friends from school?
Thanks for saying "Hello!".
Hugs and beijinhos from your teacher

Hi, Filipe!
How are you? Are you enjoying your holidays?
I'm in the Algarve and having a lovely time. Last night, around 6 a.m., it poured (rained very hard) and there was a lot of lightning and thunder for about an hour. The water in the pool almost went over!!!
Are you staying at Sto António next year? I hope so.
Hugs from your teacher, always :-)

Hi, Daniela!
Thank you for your messages! I copied them below, because they are "Summer messages", right?
I came back from the Algarve last night. I was there for two wonderful and relaxing weeks. I rode my bike everyday, sometimes for 10 kms, and once for 15 kms (half in the morning and the other half in the evening). I went to the beach, stayed by the pool and read a lot.
I'm glad that you went to Moldova and enjoyed your holidays there.
Hugs and kisses from your English teacher

Hello from Lisbon, Portugal, Howie!
So sorry for the delay, but I started the school last Monday and am currently teaching an online course, so it's been very hectic.
Thank you for getting in touch. I'll say something brief about my experience with Web 2.0 tools, among them, blogging, with Young Learners.
The use of Web-based communication tools, text, audio and/or video, in the learning process motivate students, generates learning in a fun way and generates "added value" for most learners: practice of authentic language with real people from the real worls, opening up of horizons, acquisition of e-literacy skills and intercultural awareness.
Please take a look at my blog, CALL lessons (link on the left of this blog's home page), and look for the last lesson last June, a chat with three teachers in distant places.
Hope this helps! Best,
Teresa

Dear Pedro,
Thank you for ID(entifying) yourself. It means that you sometimes visit "our" blog. I like that. :-)
I'm amazed that we're in the same school, but we haven't seen each other. Maybe once?! Filipa, Leonor and Rita often visit me in Room 14 on Fridays.
How are you doing? Being in a "crazy" class can be good and not so good. I hope that my "craziness" was good and helped you learn.
BTW, I don't think you need Apoio. What you need is to "concentrate" in class, always do your homework and "study". You can be good in English.
I checked your pages. They're nice.
See you in school. Come visit me! And continue visiting our blog.
Hugs from your English teacher

Dear Abigail,
I'm very happy that you have adapted well to the new school in London and that you have new friends. And it's fabulous that you don't forget your old, "cota" friends, like me. :-)
It's great that you're making friends from other countries, like Aloka and Lina. You know very well how much I love having friends all over the world, don't you?
I'm also very happy that you have "understanding" (= compreensivos) teachers. Have you showed them "our" blog and all the messages you sent?
You English is certainly better and you'll be speaking and writing it like a native in no time/very soon.
I'll send kisses to the other teachers from 6E.
I see Daniela very often at school. Her cousin Daniela is in my 5th grade class and she already calls me "my crazy teacher".
Francisca and Catarina visit us almost every week. They're great, but their English teacher isn't "crazy" like me. ;-)
Please continue writing. Let's stay in touch, always.
Keep doing a good job, Abigail! Learning English is a great tool (= ferramenta) for life.
Hugs and beijinhos from your English teacher and friend, always

Dear Abigail,
I loved your message and all the things you tell me about your new life. I also loved your "progress" in English! Wow!! Congratulations!!!
I have great news for you. I was in Brussels, Belgium, on Dec. 6 to receive the "eLearning Awards 2007". Our curricular blog CALL Lessons 2005-2007 < http://call05-06.motime.com/ > won a Gold Prize in the category of "The school of the future". I dedicated the award publicly to all my very special students and teacher-friends all over the world who worked and collaborated so enthusiastically in it.
I'm still very excited and "on cloud nine"!
Please go the blog and leave a message.
A very merry Christmas to you and your family and a New Year full of big successes! :-)
"Thank you" for not forgetting me.
Your English teacher and friend always,
Teresa Almeida d'Eça
